How big are acupuncture needles?

Here is a size comparison so you can see how thin acupuncture needles are compared to other familiar items. The red handled needles I use are even smaller than the one in this image, they are 0.16mm in thickness which is a bit thicker than human hair. I always want you to be comfortable with anything I do, so if it hurts, I'll change it.

One question I get is about bleeding. The needles are so thin I only rarely get any bleeding. And if there is some, it is rarely more than a drop or a small bruise. All needles are pre-sterilized and single use.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call!

The long cold winter!

Welcome to the days of winter where we hope and wish for sun and still keep our coats and hats handy. The snow, ice, and large quantity of rain have been a bit nuts. Fingers crossed for no more snow. Although today's rain is causing local flooding and ponding of water, so be careful!

People seem to be liking the online scheduling. Please let us know if you have any issues or whacky things happen while attempting to get on my schedule. And, always, always remember to check with us over the phone if there is a particular time you want and the system isn't letting you choose it. I am way more flexible than it is.

The flu and cold season is still upon us and I'm considering myself lucky to have avoided it for the most part. Let me know if you'd like a treatment or some herbs to help your immune system do battle with all the nasty bugs still floating around. I know Kaiser is still recommending people to get their flu shot so it's not too late if you want to protect yourself in that way.

The lack of sun can take its toll on many of us so remember to take your Vit D and if you can get outside, do so because the best way to make Vit D is on your skin. Supplements help but actual outside is the best. The fresh air is probably good for you too. :)

It's almost time to start getting the yard ready to go. I know my pile of branches and storm debris is ridiculous and I'm guessing I'm not the only one. Most important is to remember to not be too crazy and hurt yourself. And, if you do, I'm here!

See you soon!!

What's new for 2017?!

by Gretchen Sass

Hello and Happy New Year to all you pretty people!

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to those of you I saw in 2016, it was a great year. It is an honor to spend time with each and every one of you. Here's to continued health, happiness, and laughter as we head into 2017!

As some of you know, I’ve added new technology to my clinic. I have electronic charting and some fancy new features that you might be interested in taking advantage of. Check them out when you have time by clicking the red button on my website and set up your account.

On-line scheduling - You will still be able to call the clinic to schedule, of course, but we thought it would be nice to have the option of being able to still make an appointment when we aren’t able to answer the phone. Please let us know if you have any difficulty. It’s all new so I imagine there will be some glitches that need to be worked out. I appreciate your patience with any issues!

Appointment reminders - Never forget another appointment again with our new email or text reminders. You get to choose what reminder works best for you and if Charlie calling you is what’s best, we can do that too!

Not exactly a new feature, but a good thing for you to know about… I now have a No Show or Same Day Cancellation Fee because this past year more people either no showed or cancelled close to their appointment time. In an effort to reduce this trend, I will be charging $35 for each instance. I know we are all busy people and I will be as flexible as I can be. In most instances, if you reschedule for an appointment close to your original time, the fee will be waived. Thanks for your understanding!

The clinic schedule is staying the same Tuesday - Saturday (but not every Saturday) so hopefully there will be enough available times for you to get your appointments in. If there is a day or time you need that isn't being offered online, please call 360-225-5897 to see if I can accommodate you somehow.

Looking forward to seeing each and every one of you in 2017!!
